01 Introduction / Who We Are

Rentistan ("Rentistan," "we," "us," or "our") operates rentistan.com, a rental property marketplace connecting tenants with property owners and dealers ("Property Managers") across Pakistan. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Rentistan is not yet incorporated as a formally registered company. Until registration is complete, "Rentistan" refers to the platform and the team operating it; this section will be updated with the registered legal entity's name once incorporation is finalized.

By using rentistan.com (the "Service"), you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

02 Information We Collect

• Account information — your full name, email address, phone number, and password (stored securely — see Section 5) when you create an account.
• Property information — for Property Managers, the details you submit about a listing: location, price, photos, amenities, and related listing content.
• Communications — the name, phone number, and email you provide when using Contact Us, "Show Interest" on a listing, or other forms on the Service.
• Usage data — pages visited, features used, device and browser type, and similar analytics data, collected automatically via Google Analytics 4 (see Section 6).
• Cookies — small files used to keep you logged in and to support analytics (see Section 6).

03 How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• create and maintain your account
• connect tenants with property owners and dealers — the core purpose of the Service
• display your listings (Property Managers) or manage your saved properties and interests (tenants)
• send account-related communications, such as verification, password reset, and updates about your listings or leads
• respond to enquiries submitted through Contact Us
• understand how the Service is used so we can improve it
• maintain the safety and integrity of the platform, including detecting fraudulent listings or accounts

04 How Information Is Shared

• Between users, as core to the Service — when a tenant shows interest in or contacts a listing, that Property Manager's contact details (name and phone number) are shared with the tenant, since connecting these two parties directly is what Rentistan is for.
• Service providers — we use trusted third parties to operate the Service, including Cloudinary (image hosting), Google Analytics (usage analytics), and our hosting and infrastructure providers. These providers only receive what they need to perform their function and may not use it for their own purposes.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Rentistan, our users, or the public.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

05 Data Storage & Security

Your information is stored on secure, industry-standard hosting infrastructure. Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed using industry-standard encryption before being saved. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

06 Cookies & Analytics

The Service uses cookies to keep you securely logged in and to remember basic preferences. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Service — this may involve Google setting its own cookies and collecting data such as pages viewed, time on site, and general location at a city or country level.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect parts of the Service, such as staying logged in.

07 Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information — most of this can be updated directly from your account settings
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal information

08 Future Payment Processing

Rentistan does not currently process payments. We plan to introduce paid features, such as featured listings, in the future. When payment processing launches, it will be handled through a reputable, secure third-party payment processor, and this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe what payment-related data is collected and how it is handled before that feature goes live. Rentistan does not store full payment card details.

09 Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. Rentistan does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

10 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and operational reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
